Swiss Championships

This weekend, nine riders of Tormans Cyclo Cross Team will battle for the national titles in the U23 and Elite categories in six different countries. On Saturday, the championships of Belgium (Women), France and Luxembourg are scheduled. The next day, the male representant will battle for the titels in Belgium, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands and in Switzerland, where Kevin Kuhn will defend his title. Barnabás Peák, the Hungarian rider from Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux, will also try to win the national cyclocross title this Sunday.

Last year’s winner Kevin Kuhn will line up as the race favorite on Sunday. The event is organized in Steinmaur, in the north of the country and one hour away from the title defender’s home. It was on the same circuit that Kuhn took his first victory of the season last year. The weather conditions will play a major role on this typical Swiss grass circuit, hilly, and with temperatures oscillating around zero degrees.

« One year ago, I shared the highest step of the podium with my partner Nicole Koller, the winner in the women’s category. I keep some nice memories from winning my first title in the elite category and riding a whole season in that beautiful red kit. This Sunday I will defend a national title for the first time, but it doesn’t make me nervous. I’m confident as I managed to get through the busy Christmas period with a good feeling. Last season I won a UCI race on the same parcours, however, the circumstances were very dry and fast back then. This will be completely different this weekend as the snowfall is turning the grass field into a mud pool. But it doesn’t matter how the circumstances will be, I will do everything I can to extend my time on my beautiful marble and red Cube Cross Race! »
