Wyseure confirms with his best result in a Belgian elite race

Joran Wyseure lined up for his third race in one week after his 4th place at the U23 European Championships and his 14th place in Niel last Thursday. Laurens Sweeck accomplished his role as a race favorite in the Ethias Cross in Leuven by starting a solo in the third lap. That was also the moment that Joran Wyseure appeared at the front after a couple of technical mistakes in the beginning of the race. Halfway through the race, the 20 year old Belgian rider moved up to 5th position and he eventually finished 6th, one minute behind the winner.

Also this Saturday, Shana Maes raced on a challenging parcours in Ardooie. The Antwerp champion took her second victory of the season with an advantage of almost 4 minutes over Alana Polfliet.

This Sunday, Emiel Verstrynge (Belgium) and Théo Thomas (France) will participate in the first U23 World Cup of the season in Tabor (Czech Republic). 18 year old Marie Schreiber will line up in the Women’s Elite category, with Quinten Hermans, Kevin Kuhn, Thomas Mein and Corné Van Kessel representing the team in the Men’s Elite race.

« It took me some time to find a good rhythm, because in the beginning I had some difficulties to find the right lines on the parcours, which changed after the recon. Afterwards I managed to move up well and achieve my best result in a Belgian elite race. Taking into account that I didn't feel recovered from the hard race in Niel from last Thursday, I can be pretty satisfied with this 6th place. It's nice that I can confirm after my good performances at the European Championships and in Niel! »
