Reassuring signs for van Kessel

This Wednesday, Corné van Kessel raced almost at home in Herentals, in the province of Antwerp. This new race of the X2O Trophy was the sixth cyclocross in eleven days for the Dutch rider, who showed reassuring signs after his crash in Baal on the 1st of January.

Van Kessel showed himself in chase of a leading trio on the hilly parcours of 2.7 kilometer containing a particularly steep ski hill and a running track. He secured another result among the ten best riders before the battle for the Dutch national title next Sunday in Rucphen.

« During the first part of the race, my body showed reassuring signals after my crash in Baal. Nevertheless, I I couldn’t reach my full strength and the effects of the physio treatments were also noticeable. Of course it isn’t illogical that it takes time to recover from such a bad crash and that I wasn’t able to battle for the top of the classification today. But I hope to do this next Sunday in the Dutch championships in Rucphen! »
