This weekend, nine riders of Tormans Cyclo Cross Team will battle for the national titles in the U23 and Elite categories in six different countries. On Saturday, the championships of Belgium (Women), France and Luxembourg are scheduled. The next day, the male representant will battle for the titels in Belgium, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands and in Switzerland, where Kevin Kuhn will defend his title.
Thomas Mein, Marie Schreiber, Théo Thomas and Corné van Kessel will finally have another opportunity to race for the national title after last year’s cancellations because of the pandemic, or a collarbone fracture in case of Théo Thomas. 18 year old rider Marie Schreiber has great ambitions for the Luxembourg championships on the sports domain in Ettelbruck next Saturday. In the U23 and Elite race she will be confronted to Christine Majerus, owner of the Elite jersey since 2010.
« I’m very eager to race, especially after my last race in Hulst last Sunday, where I surprised myself by finishing very close to Christine Majerus. I’ll do everything to follow my compatriot as long as possible this Saturday, even if I have to pay the price in the final. When you duel with an eleven times national champion as an 18 year old, you don’t have anything to loose. Our battle will take place on a circuit with not much obstacles, but I heard that the terrain is very slippery now as it was flooded. So it might be technical in the end, which could be in my favor. »
