British championships

This weekend, nine riders of Tormans Cyclo Cross Team will battle for the national titles in the U23 and Elite categories in six different countries. On Saturday, the championships of Belgium (Women), France and Luxembourg are scheduled. The next day, the male representant will battle for the titels in Belgium, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands and in Switzerland, where Kevin Kuhn will defend his title. Barnabás Peák, the Hungarian rider from Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux, will also try to win the national cyclocross title this Sunday.

Thomas Mein, Marie Schreiber, Théo Thomas and Corné van Kessel will finally have another opportunity to race for the national title after last year’s cancellations because of the pandemic, or a collarbone fracture in case of Théo Thomas. Thomas Mein’s first participation as an Elite rider in Great Britain will take place this Sunday in Ardingly, south of London, at 14h45 local time. Just before, 17 year old European junior Champion Zoe Bäckstedt will battle for the titles in the U23 and Elite category.

« This Friday I start the long trip southward, where I will line up at the national championships for the first time as an elite rider. My main competitor will probably be U23 rider Cameron Mason. I don’t know the parcours in Ardingly yet, but I know that it will be wet and that a lot of running is expected, especially after the races of all other categories. During the first two laps we’ll probably wait and see who are the better riders. Then, the stronger riders will naturally distinguish themselves. I’m very enthusiastic! »
