Thomas Mein carries momentum in first race of 2022

Tormans Cyclo Cross Team celebrated the transition to the New Year on the dirt this Saturday, represented by a duo for the fourth round of the X2O Badkamers Trofee organized in Baal, Flemish Brabant. Thomas Mein and Corné Van Kessel took part in the Elite Men race at 3 pm.

Thomas Mein’s opening of 2022 turned out to be in line with December 2021, on the up since making his return from illness. The 22-year-old Briton took twelfth place after all seven rounds, his best C1 result this season. His teammate Van Kessel, however, did not enjoy similar fortune. While in fifth position after a strong start, the Dutchman crashed heavily into the mud along the barriers. Van Kessel courageously got back on his bike and changed helmet, but he didn’t insist on the eve of another World Cup round in Hulst.
