Quinten Hermans starts the season with a bang

Quinten Hermans started his fourth winter with Tormans Cyclo Cross Team with a bang. This Thursday he dominated the Kermiscross in Ardooie, his first race of the season, ahead of Felipe Orts Lloret and Laurens Sweeck.

His teammate Arne Baers (20 years old) finished ninth, confirming his excellent shape which led him to a double victory in Sweden last weekend.

In the elite women’s category Marie Schreiber finished sixth behind winner Kata Blanka Vas. The 19 year old rider from Luxembourg achieved her eighth top ten in eight races.

With this new success, Quinten Hermans brings the total of UCI victories for the team in one month to eight. He’s the fourth victorious rider after Schreiber, Baers and Kevin Kuhn.

On Sunday, Quinten Hermans will participate to the World Cup in Tabor, just like his teammates Baers, Schreiber, Kuhn and Lauren Molengraaf. He will then race in Woerden, Ruddervoorde and in Maasmechelen in the build up towards the European Championships on November 6th.

« The European championships in Namur are my main goal for the beginning of the season and in order to prepare well, I found it important to participate to several races and training sessions with Tormans Cyclo Cross Team, to begin with Ardooie. My road season with Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert made me stronger again, but even though I knew that my form was good I wasn't sure about my capabilities to win today. The effort in cyclocross is completely different to my road races, during which I could usually save myself until the final. In the beginning of the race I could react to the accelerations quite well but it was difficult to find out how deep my competitors had to dig. With six laps to go I followed the attack of Felipe Orts Lloret and when I passed him I saw that I had a little gap. Even though the race was still long, I decided to continue and that's how I won the race. Winning from my season start is a fantastic boost for my motivation. I want to benefit from my next races to gain some cross specific technique in order to be ready for Namur! »
