Bronze medal winner at the World Championships Emiel Verstrynge has a new reason to celebrate. The Flemish cyclocross rider is 18 years old today, on February 4th, and signed a three year contract with Tormans Cyclo Cross Team. Verstrynge, riding for CT Keukens Buysse, has shown regularity within the junior category. The bronze medal winner at the Belgian and World Championships living in Maldegem also finished on the podium at the World Cup in Nommay. He finished 4th in Koksijde and 6th in Heusden-Zolder. Verstrynge will make his debut in the U23 category in September in the colours of Tormans Cyclo Cross.
« I’m very happy with this great opportunity and stepping stone. At the international Championships with the national team I got into touch with Quinten Hermans and I’m looking forward to start learning from him. My new teammates will help me to start my first year in the U23 category. In this professional environment I can continue my development. »
Jean-François Bourlart (general manager):
« We keep implementing the same approach: recruiting and developing young talents. We follow these dynamics on the road, and we keep the same reasoning for cyclocross. We already signed a contract with Thomas Mein, and Emiel Verstrynge will join him. He showed in the junior category that he was part of the best riders of his generation, in Belgium and on the international level. I’m convinced that Emiel will continue his progress in the colors of Tormans Cyclo Cross Team. Thanks to our new cyclocross project, we offer him the possibility to grow without pressure by giving him a contract until February 2023.
