Double victory for Kuhn at the EKZ Cross Tour

Double victory for Kuhn at the EKZ Cross Tour

On this second day of the new year, Kevin Kuhn offered Tormans Cyclo Cross Team a new victory. The Swiss rider participated to the third and final race of the EKZ Cross Tour in Hittnau. The battle between Kuhn, Forster and Rüegg was held on a snow and mud field. Halfway through the race, Swiss champion Forster distanced his two breakaway companions, but somewhat later Kuhn managed to inverse the situation. The rider of Tormans Cyclo Cross Team won the race by 10 seconds on Rüegg. After the races in Baden, Bern and Hittnau, Kuhn was crowned the overall winner of the EKZ Cross Tour. This Sunday, he will join Hermans, Mein and Van Kessel again for the World Cup in Hulst (Netherlands), before returning to Switzerland for the national championships, which will be ridden on the same course in Hittnau.

Shana Maes and Emiel Verstrynge raced in Gullegem this Saturday. Just like last Wednesday in Bredene, Blanka Kata Vas and Mathieu van der Poel were clearly the strongest and took the victories. Shana Maes achieved her first top 20 in a broadcasted race. The races in Bredene and Gullegem were great opportunities for Emiel Verstrynge to show himself between the pros. The 18 year old crossed the finishine in 8th position, securing his first top 10 of the season.

Kevin Kuhn:
« I’m living in Belgium since the beginning of October, but I returned home for a week to prepare this race in Hittnau. It was a succesful trip thanks to the double victory! The melting snow and icy wind made for cold circumstances. My plan was to not go full from the beginning. Lars Forster was very offensive, but it was still 3-4 laps to go and I managed to close the gap. I was very confident for the win, so I'm very happy with the result! I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's World Cup in Hulst, because I've also got some nice opportunities there. I'm currently 10th in the classification, but right behind the 8th and 9th. »
